What
makes HeavenForbid.org unique?
This is the only website to provide a secure database
for generic and sensitive personal information. This site allows individuals,
families, and/or trusted friends to retrieve pertinent information within
seconds in an emergency.
Why is this website necessary?
For anyone missing, whether an adult or child, time
is of the essence. HeavenForbid.org affords you the opportunity to produce
pictures and other vital identifying information within seconds. This
ability to respond quickly enhances the safe return of a family member
or friend. Paper records or those saved on diskettes may be difficult
to locate in the emotional response to an emergency.
How do I get started?
Upon registration, an e-mail confirmation will be sent,
thanking you for joining HeavenForbid.org, instantaneously. The e-mail
will also contain a temporary password. Once in the site, please select
a password unique and only known to you.
How do I know my family's personal information is safe
on your website?
All sections of the site requiring data entry from users
will be protected by SSL encryption at the 128-bit level. This is the
level of protection used by online vendors, such as Amazon.com, and
is considered the Internet industry standard.
Only you and designated family members will have access
to your personal database within the HeavenForbid.org website. Our security
system allows users to create secondary passwords to allow others access
to the first level of database information. Only the username and master
password will be valid to access the second level of database information
(numbers for credit cards and insurance policies, etc.)
What hours are most critical when trying to locate
a missing child?
According to a study by the State of Washington's Office
of the Attorney General, "The murder of a child who is abducted ...
is a rare event. There are estimated to be about 100 such incidents
in the United States each year, less than one-half of one percent of
all murders committed." However, "74 percent of abducted children who
are murdered are killed within three hours of the abductions."
I have lost my password. What can I do?
You can click here
and enter your e-mail address to have your password e-mailed to the
authorized account on file. If you never received your initial registration
information, please click here
and supply us with some details so that we may verify your account.
Is HeavenForbid.org a non-profit organization?
Currently, the site is not registered as a non-profit
organization. With growth, the potential to seek that status is a strong
possibility. Regardless of the site's status, donations will occur with
each registration to safe havens for women and children who have been
victims of violence.
What other precautions should I take to safeguard my
loved ones?
1) Do not give personal information, such as you name,
address, telephone number, and/or a picture of yourself to someone in
a chat room.
2) Do not communicate with anyone who makes you uncomfortable
or uneasy.
3) People online may not be who they say they are. Someone
who says "she" is a "12 year-old girl" could really be an older man.
